Hosetrac

Hosetrac will help you maintain records of the service life of all hoses and guide you to replace them when they are no longer safe to use. The system works by using electronic tags fitted on a numbered plate.

The plates are attached to every hose on the ship. The tag is read using a specially adapted Palm PDA. Data collected by the tag reader is loaded back into the base station PC where it updates the database records for each hose. This database contains a full description of all hoses on the ship in what is referred to as a hose register.
When a new hose is fitted or one is replaced the database records details of the new hose and calculates the next date when the hose must be inspected and when the hose would normally be replaced.
Hoses in service need to be regularly inspected and the system will prompt you when an inspection is needed. If an inspected hose is reported as defective the system will then schedule it for replacement.
